Castelnou and Thuir
From the apartment to the first stop; excludes the rest of the day.
Enjoy the medieval village and one booked heritage visit. During the castle shutdown, retain the village and check guided Byrrh options; self-guided Byrrh visits are seasonal.

Castelnou
Castelnou's stone lanes and hilltop silhouette are the reason to come, even without entering the castle. Wander slowly, look towards the surrounding hills and leave space for an artisan or café stop. Expect gradients and uneven surfaces in this medieval village.
Château de Castelnou
A castle crowns Castelnou's tightly packed stone houses beneath the hills. Enjoy the village lanes, artisan atmosphere and views, then visit the castle when its season allows. The public village remains an outing in its own right during the castle's winter closure.
Opening and seasons
Winter closure: 2 November–18 December 2026; 3 January–6 February 2027. October–December generic hours: 11:00–17:00; closure dates take precedence.
Caves Byrrh, Thuir
The Caves Byrrh tell the story of a local aperitif through industrial heritage and impressive wine-cellar equipment. A distinctive alternative to another castle visit. Choose your available guided or self-guided session, then leave time for Thuir's compact centre.
Opening and seasons
Self-guided visits: April–June and September–October 09:30–11:30 / 14:30–17:00; July–August 10:00–11:30 / 14:00–18:00. No self-guided visits November–March. Guided options use their own booking times. Closed 1 January, 1 May, 25 December and the January back-to-school week; confirm exact closure dates.
